Tree Fungus

I recently bought a new computer and while I was transferring pictures over to my new hard drive I found this little series of photos. At the time, I had just bought a Lensbaby fisheye lens and was testing it out on everything and anything. These picture (and a hundred others that I deleted) are the results of the test drive. I thought it was a shame that I never shared them, so here they are, rescued from the depths of my hard drive.

Ruins

Click photos to enlarge

After some internet digging, my sister (always a willing model) and I found these ruins in our region. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon then a photo shoot at a cool location?

You'll notice in shots one and five, I played around with intention blurring of the subject. I'm beginning to learn that the subject doesn't always need to be pin sharp to make a good image.

My Grandmother's Floral

This past Easter I realized the abundance of floral patterns in my grandparents house. It needed to be photographed.

 Happy Spring!

Frozen Beach

I love shooting on this beach in the off-season. The snow acts as a perfect reflector, and the barren landscape lends itself to a really interesting mood in the photos. These picture are from the beginning of February when we were still in the dead of winter.

It's Time For Mistletoe...

I just wanted to share this Christmas-themed illustration that I drew with everybody! I know it's not photography, but I figured it's artsy and it's fun!

Beach Long Exposures

 4 seconds

Over the summer, I tried out some longer exposures on a beach. I really wanted to get that smooth water effect, and I think it worked out pretty well. I decided to put the two pictures in black and white, because the subject had a hard time standing still, so there was a bit of that inevitable motion blur. Putting the shots in black and white gave me a bit more room to play will sharpness/contrast. Plus, I like the somber look it gives it.
